Shaping wood
When shaping wood first thing is to know what you want to do.
At sanisio we pay special attention on choosing the right piece of wood for the wanted design.
With nice colors and texture patterns.
First thing in the process of shaping wood is to know what you want to do. It’s not the same if you want to make a keyring, an olive wood bowl or unique designed jewellery.
We mostly do sketches on paper when we feel inspired. But not always. Often the chosen piece and its specific texture inspire us while forming the shape.
Then it’s time to apply the desired sketch and cut it on the band saw. Now we have the raw form of the desired product. Next step in shaping wood is removing the material.
We do it manually, using various basic tools for separation of the wooden mass that we developed based on years of experience. It is important for us to always have this hand contact with our works.
But not all the materials give us the opportunity to achieve the wanted design. Take olive wood for example. You can rarely encounter large pieces and even then, it is often empty inside.
So the selected piece and its natural form inspires us and guides us to the final shape of the bowl.
