The artist
The person behind all this beautiful unique wood design is the sculptor and designer Sasa Matjasic. Born in 1955 in Pula (Istria, Croatia), he graduated at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb in 1980. He moves to Zadar where he lives and works for several years and which he still often visits.
Surrounded by Mediterranean nature his desire to create reawakens and he starts forming his artistic expression. After his first solo exhibition held in Gallery Smitran in Pula in 1992, he decides to leave his profession and to fully devote himself to artistic work.
To date he has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions in Croatia, Slovenia and Italy. As an example of wood design his works were presented by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Sweden and France in year 2011.
Today he lives and works in Fazana, near the church of Saint Elisée (St. Elisha). The area is known by the natives under the name sanisio. For some time now in his work he includes young people willing to work with wood, passing on knowledge and experience.
sanisio artifacts are part of the Istrian cultural offer, recognizable for its unique wood design. And modern approach to wood processing applied in authentic surroundings and atmosphere.

Our team
Our small manufacture is slowly but steadily increasing. sanisio provides an opportunity for the hardworking, artistically talented and educated people to find their place in the team. In this time of almighty technology we are trying for the old crafts and techniques of wood processing to survive.
We share our knowledge and craft secrets are passed on to younger generations. The team consists of young and ambitious people who participate in the process of making all of our products while at the same time they are given the opportunity to personally discover their own artistic expression.
Along with the manufacture, we have a small team of logistics, administration and marketing. They take care that sanisio products are well presented, carefully packed and that arrive on time in your hands.
